赫尔曼·沃克的小说《战争风云（1939－1941）》及姊妹篇《战争与回忆（1941－1945）》，是现代文学史上全景式展现第二次世界大战真实进程的规模最大的作品。正如作者所言："是在尽很大的努力描绘一幅一次大规模的世界战争真实的，宏伟的图像。” 本片通过亨利一家在二次大战中的不同经历反映了二战中的方方面面，即有波澜壮阔的战争场面、又有剪不断理还乱的儿女情长。书中人物众多，上至各交战国最高领导人罗斯福，丘吉尔，希特勒等，下至一般士兵和普通百姓。所述故事从1939年德军入侵波兰，第二次世界大战爆发开始，到1945年日本投降，战争结束为止，涉及大多数主要战场和重要事件。作品中涉及的战史，都是真实的，所引的数字材料，都是可靠的，举凡显赫人物的言语行事，也都是出自正史，凡此种种，加上作者感人至深的文学手法，铸成了这部"史诗风范的长篇小说”。当然，爱情、亲情、友情绝对是这部佳作中永远也不会缺少的主题。 两部小说都先后在80年代被搬上电视屏幕，而且相当成功。电视剧把小说的人物和故事背景形象化的搬上了荧屏，真实再现了原着的宏大的战争场景和复杂的人物关系以及真实的情感。本剧演员阵容非常强大。已故美国性格巨星罗伯特米切姆扮演维克多亨利，在两部电视剧中他扮演了同一个角色。其他明星还有沙朗斯通、约翰吉尔古德爵士、简西摩尔等。《战争与回忆》的开始紧接着《战争风云》，里面涉及到太平洋战场、欧洲战场、对犹太人的大屠杀等历史事件... 剧情简介： 一部二战题材的电视剧集，根据同名小说改编，作者是曾以《凯恩号哗变》获得普利策奖的美国作家赫尔曼.沃克（HermanWouk)－他本人亲自担任剧本改编工作，剧本完稿后全长962页，有1785个场景。制作组拍摄足迹遍及亚欧6个国家共267个拍摄地点，花费11年时间进行拍摄，总共拍了15个小时的原始素材。后期制作用了1年，最终剧集长度为883分钟。生动地呈现了二次世界大战打响前夕阴云笼罩的世界局势，对于二战幕后背景有着深刻阐述。该剧共获得3项艾美奖提名，5年后原班人马推出续集《战争与回忆》。
