Themuseofthisseriesofcharcoaldrawingonpaperisthe“vocabuLaries”collectedfromvaguememoriesreLatedtothetraumaoflivingunderadictatorship.Onthepapers/bookscrapsweresketchedthetemporarinessofmemories,openingapathtolookbacktothewoundandtreatit,whileexchangingstoriesasahumanbeing.Thefalloftheregimedidnotnecessarilyhealthelong,lingering,andchronicfearswithinsomeindividuals.Thestoriesportrayedinthesedrawingseriesarederivedfromthefragmentsoffearhauntingsome“anonymous”individualslivingundertherepressionoftheregime.Theseghost-liketraumaticmemoriesdonotalwaysappearinadeformedmanifestation.Theghostssometimesappearassymptomstriggeredbydailyevents,suchastheroaringsoundofatruckenginefromafar,aman’sheavybreathingwhensmokinghiscigarettefollowedbyapauseinradiobroadcastinthemiddleofthenight,oreventhesilenceoftheJavasouthernsea. Thespectrumofthisworksdepictstheendeavortodiveintothehumansoultodiscoverhowlifewasveryfragileduringthetimeofuncertainty.Thisworkrecordsandgathersthetracesofmemoriesaboutthedailylifeofthosewhosurvivedthecrucialyetuncertaintransitionalperiodduringthetransferofsovereigntyandpower.Itwasthetimewhenthesurroundingswerefulloframpantviolence.Throughouthistory,thegrandnarrativeshavebeenrefutingeachotherandtendedtoruleouttheextremeviolencecommittedbyallpartiesengagedintheconflict.Historyalwaysdirectsthespotlighttoepicandheroicstoriesinwhichminormemoriesmightloseanddriftawaywithtime.Inthedrawing,thesefuzzymemoriesarere-capturedthroughthebrittlenessandfragilityofcharcoal.Thisworkservesasamodestpilgrimagetothememoriesthatarefadingawayasageracesforward.
